Voilence Free Election 2012
«« BACK TO IMPLEMENTED PROJECTS PAGE

Choice Ghana with funding support from STAR-Ghana mobilise, network and sensitise Traditional Authority, youth, women, PWDs and political parties in both Kpandai and East Gonja Districts towards achieving violence free elections in the Ghana 2012 elections. Activities implemented include stakeholder engagements, video shows of election or civil strife shows, campaigns etc. This has contributed to the peaceful 2012 elections in Ghana and more especially in the East Gonja and Kpandai Districts which were noted as hot spots by West Africa Network for Peace (WANEP).

Choice Ghana among others strategies leveraged on the powers of Traditional Authority as the custodians of the land to ensure that political campaigns are issue based rather than personality attacks, insults, abusive languages, mob attacks as it was happening previously. This has led to the signing of campaigning code of conduct by political parties to ensure that the campaigns are issue based to prevent violence. This has therefore led to citizens making informed decisions and successful violence free elections in both districts and Ghana at large.

Choice Ghana seek to empower communities to be capable of accessing opportunities for a better life.
